Cast iron fireplace back - 008

Antique Cast Iron Fireplace Back – Northern Italy (Mid-19th Century)

A very rare and important antique cast iron fireplace back, dating back to the mid-19th century and salvaged from a prestigious historic residence in Northern Italy. This extraordinary vintage cast iron artifact remains in excellent condition, structurally sound, free of through-cracks, and ready to be reinstalled within a hearth.

In addition to its immense historical and antiquarian value, this plate serves a fundamental energy efficiency function: once positioned at the back of the fireplace, it accumulates the heat generated by the burning wood and radiates it steadily and gradually into the room, while simultaneously protecting the masonry wall from fire damage.
