It's in perfect condition, as can be seen from the still rough, unpolished surface. These antique drainpipes were a crucial part of ancient floors. Without them, the floors would have been at risk of flooding for days with every rainfall.

This is why drains were invented, which, as you can see, are very simple ancient works of urban engineering: water was channeled from the drainage channels to the cracks where it then drained and ended up in the city's sewers. A simple yet ingenious mechanism.
