Antique Cast Iron Fireplace Backplate – Central Italy Reclamation

An important antique cast iron fireplace backplate, sourced from a careful building reclamation within a historic residence in Central Italy. This solid protective and radiant panel is still in excellent condition; it is structurally intact, robust, and ready to enrich a new hearth with its old-world charm.

The plate is distinguished by its vertical orientation (71 cm in height), a highly sought-after classic proportion that allows it to protect a large portion of the back fireplace wall from direct heat and soot. Once heated by the flames, the cast iron accumulates heat and gradually diffuses it into the room through radiation, optimizing the thermal efficiency of the entire fireplace.
